I grew up proofreaading hundreds of graphic novels for my mother's classroom. She used graphic novels as a way to rehabilitate interest in reading for impacted students. Her position as a reading interventionist required creative and patient solutions, and she often employed the help of my brother and I to make sure certain books were appropriate for her younger students.

During these years, I read hundreds of graphic novels and now find them to be the only thing I can consistantly enjoy reading in a state of college burnout. One day in studio, I found an clipping of a comic panel cut out from an old supernatural comic. It was laying amongst the other scraps in my teacher's collage drawer, and I decided to repaint it. It reminded me of one of my favorite graphic novels from my mother's library, Ghostopolis by Doug TenNaple. A riveting story about the afterlife and what might meet you there.
