One of the loneliest feelings in the world is to be misunderstood when you’re trying so hard to explain yourself. When I was a kid, I learned to create my own analogies where my usual vocabulary failed me. I’d say, “it’s like my belt is made of ants”, which eventually helped me get medical attention for my undiagnosed chronic pain. As I grew older, and fell further in love with art, I found myself drawn to surrealism. It was the perfect vehicle for the way I think, feel, and process. I am now a multimedia artist, using a variety of materials to tell my stories. I found comfort and the means to explain myself in surrealism, through all my odd little analogies.
